Alpine publicly denounced the social media harassment directed at the world champion. Supporters of the Argentine driver faced criticism following the incident in Baku.
Lando Norris has experienced a surge of online harassment after he remarked that Alpine driver Franco Colapinto does not belong in Formula One. This came after the Argentine caused a crash on Saturday that eliminated the reigning world champion from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The intensity of the abuse on social media, which seems to originate from Colapinto's fans, was so severe that his Alpine team felt compelled to release a statement condemning this latest episode in a series of instances of fan hostility linked to the Argentine driver.
